Proud to be the smallest museum in Rotterdam, the Schaakstukken Museum (Chessmen Museum) encompasses hundreds of unique chess sets. Each one tells story of its own, which owner Ridder Dijkshoorn gladly tells you all about. “It’s a hobby that got out of hand,” he says. “When I had 400 chess sets, my living room was getting too small. Added to that, the space underneath the cube houses became available, so it was the perfect time to start a museum.”
