The idyllic town of Huizen, just 30 kilometres east of Amsterdam, has a rich cultural history. At the Het Huizer Museum the story is told of how this little agricultural town transformed into a thriving fishermen’s community through the use of wonderful paintings, artworks, photography and old agricultural and fishing tools. Visitors can also get familiar with the concept of Huizer customes which covers everything from simple garments to beautiful Sunday dresses. Run predominantly by volunteers, the museum hosts regular activities, tours and workshops making it a much more personal experience.
