With a name derived from the museum’s former location, an old convent and orphanage called Bonnefantenklooster, the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht has stayed true to its heritage. The museum can be perceived as an ‘orphanage’ for artworks from different places, artists and time periods, includingworks by Brueghel, Ai Weiwei and Grayson Perry. Located along the banks of the river Maas, the Bonnefanten Museum, with its cupola reminiscent of a rocket, is one of the city’s most remarkable sights.
